Cooper Gallery has been awarded the prestigious Sandford Award for Heritage Learning, recognising its excellent learning opportunities and visitor engagement. It is now the fourth Barnsley Museums site to hold the award, alongside Cannon Hall Museum, Experience Barnsley, and Worsbrough Mill.
The national quality mark celebrates organisations offering outstanding learning programmes. During assessment, judges observed a Year 5 ‘Look, Make, Print’ workshop and praised the engaging delivery, which inspired both pride in the town and confidence in the children. They also commended the gallery’s wider learning offer for all ages.
