This week, Barnsley Council has been busy packing and delivering Year 11 Support Packs to secondary schools across the borough, ready for distribution to around 3,000 young people.
As part of the Great Childhoods Ambition programme, the scheme is designed to give all Year 11 students equal access to the equipment and resources they need to thrive in their final year.
Cllr Ashley Peace, Cabinet Spokesperson for Children’s Services, handed out some of the packs to students at Outwood Academy Shafton during their Year 11 Success Evening, while Cllr Deborah Pearson attended a similar event at Astrea Academy Dearne.
Students are eligible if they live in Barnsley or attend a Barnsley school, including specialist settings, schools outside the borough, or home education. Each eligible student will receive their own pack.
