Barnsley College has unveiled a multi-million pound transformation of the former Barnsley Mining and Technical College.The 93-year-old art deco building on Church Street has been redeveloped into the new University Centre, part of the South Yorkshire Institute of Technology.

It will provide higher-level technical qualifications, degree study and apprenticeships in areas including engineering, construction and IT.Local MPs Dan Jarvis and Dr Marie Tidball officially opened the facility on Thursday.
