South Yorkshire Police is appealing for information, witnesses, and any relevant footage following a fatal collision on Pontefract Road in Barnsley.
Police were called at 7:43pm on Friday 8 August 2025 to reports of a collision involving a pedal cycle and a silver BMW, near the junction with Beevor Court.
The cyclist, a 43-year-old man, received treatment at the roadside but was later confirmed to have died. His family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
The BMW involved has been recovered, and a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been released on bail while enquiries continue.
Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has information or footage that may assist the investigation — including dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell recordings — to come forward.
