Barnsley Fire Station is inviting the public behind the scenes this weekend as it hosts a free open day designed to engage families and showcase the vital work of local firefighters.
Taking place at the station on Saturday 2 August from 10am to 4pm, the event will include a range of activities for all ages, including live firefighting demonstrations, the chance to sit inside fire engines and soak a fire fighter.
Firefighters from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue will be on hand to offer safety advice, demonstrate equipment, and answer questions from the public.
Admission to the event is free and no booking is required. Refreshments will be available, and there will be opportunities to donate to The Fire Fighters Charity, which supports fire service personnel and their families across the UK.
