Barnsley Civic has welcomed South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard to the arts centre this week.
He was given a tour by CEO and Artistic Director Dan Winder, meeting resident artists and hearing about future plans.The Combined Authority has previously invested more than half a million pounds into the Civic, which helped reopen the historic Eldon Street entrance.
Mr Coppard said he was proud of Barnsley’s ambition and creativity, and praised the role of art and culture in the town’s future.
