Barnsley Council is considering plans to create 40 new specialist primary school places for children with complex special educational needs and disabilities.
The proposal would involve investing around £7.37 million to adapt The Mill at Worsbrough Bridge.
If approved, the new specialist provision could open in September 2028.
The council says creating more places within Barnsley would help reduce the number of children who currently have to travel outside the borough to receive the specialist education and support they need.
