Plans for 40 new specialist primary-school places in Barnsley go before Cabinet next week.
The proposal would transform The Mill, Worsbrough Bridge into a specialist school for children with complex special educational needs and disabilities.
The proposed investment is £7.37 million. Waterton Academy Trust has been selected as the preferred operator.
Cabinet considers the plan on Wednesday 7 October. If approved, the first children are expected to attend from September 2028.
The aim is to provide more specialist education locally for Barnsley children and families.
