Cannon Hall bookshop seeks local business buddies to boost funds
Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust is asking local firms to back its Pre-Loved Bookshop at Cannon Hall Museum.
A pre-loved bookshop tucked away in the Walled Garden at Cannon Hall Museum is looking for local businesses to help it raise more money for Barnsley's museums and communities.
The shop gives donated books a second life and currently brings in around £4,500 a year. That money goes towards family learning, community volunteering, educational and wellbeing activities, and the day-to-day care of Cannon Hall Museum, its park and gardens.
Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust, which runs the shop, says it wants to build links with companies that share its commitment to community engagement and sustainability across Barnsley and South Yorkshire.
There are several ways for firms to get involved as a Bookshop Buddy. They can put a donation box in the workplace, run a one-off or regular team book drive, hold a friendly workplace challenge, or offer their premises as a drop-off point for books.
The trust describes it as a low-cost way to support a local charity, show a commitment to corporate social responsibility and help unwanted books find new homes.
Any business interested in taking part can email info@bmht.org to talk about a partnership.
