Doncaster Sheffield Airport orders three new fire rescue vehicles
Doncaster Sheffield Airport has placed an order for three new firefighting appliances as it prepares to reopen.
Doncaster Sheffield Airport has ordered three new fire rescue vehicles as work continues to get the site ready for the return of flights.
The appliances are specialist aviation firefighting vehicles, built for the particular demands of responding to incidents on an airfield.
The airport's head of fire rescue and emergency planning said the order was another important step in building a fully equipped operation ahead of reopening.
Doncaster Sheffield Airport closed in 2022, and City of Doncaster Council is working towards fully reopening the site.
The fire vehicles are the latest in a series of investments, which have also included a new radar system.
The airport sits just outside the Barnsley borough, so this is one for anyone in the Dearne Valley who uses the site or works there.
