Family's warning after grandfather killed by dangerous driver
The family of Graham Slinn, 81, have issued a warning after he was killed by a dangerous driver who used cloned plates.
The family of Graham Slinn, an 81-year-old grandfather from Yorkshire, have issued a warning after he was killed by a dangerous driver who used cloned plates.
The driver, Cain Byrne, was jailed for 16 years and six months after admitting the crime and making no attempt to stop.
Graham's family appeared on BBC Panorama as part of an investigation into the use of cloned and ghost number plates on UK roads.
The investigation looked at both cloned plates and "ghost plates", which can use materials designed to make registrations difficult for automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras to read. The family's experience has been supported by Thompsons Solicitors and their membership of the National Education Union (NEU).
