Fir Vale Academy in Sheffield has updated its uniform options following concerns over clothing worn by some Muslim pupils.
The academy's current uniform policy now allows pupils to wear plain black trousers, or a knee-length black modesty skirt over plain black trousers, or a full-length plain black skirt, alongside the rest of the academy uniform.
The change follows concerns raised by parents and community representatives over girls who wanted to dress more modestly.
The academy says hijabs are also permitted as part of religious dress requirements, while the remainder of the uniform must follow school policy.
