Man guilty of neglecting 84 dogs in Tickhill house
David Parkes was found guilty of neglecting 84 dogs and two cats kept in filthy and squalid conditions in Tickhill.
A man has been found guilty of neglecting 84 dogs and two cats at a house in Tickhill, South Yorkshire, which were found living in "filthy and squalid" conditions.
The animals, mainly springer spaniel-type dogs, were rescued from the property on 18 April last year. The house was described as "covered in dirt and faeces, from floor to ceiling", with many rooms difficult to access.
David Parkes, a children's social worker, denied owning or having responsibility for the animals, but was found guilty after a two-day trial at Barnsley Magistrates' Court.
His wife Delphine Parkes and son Sam Parkes pleaded guilty to three animal welfare offences at an earlier hearing. The three defendants will be sentenced on 9 December at Doncaster Magistrates'.
