More Barnsley residents living independently after social care support
A new council performance report shows more people in Barnsley are staying independent at home after adult social care support.
More people in Barnsley are managing to stay independent at home after using adult social care services, according to the council's latest performance report.
The report says 70 per cent of people who use Adult Social Care services now complete reablement without needing ongoing support. Reablement is short-term help, often after a hospital stay or a spell of illness, aimed at getting people back on their feet and doing everyday tasks for themselves.
The council says this means residents are able to remain independent for longer, with fewer people needing longer-term care.
The performance report is published by Barnsley Council and looks at how its services are doing against key measures.
