Newark Town defender faces year out after triple injury
Lewis Smalley is set to spend at least a year on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury, fractured wrist and further damage.
Newark Town defender Lewis Smalley is set to spend at least a year on the sidelines following a triple injury suffered during a match against Lutterworth.
The injury occurred after Smalley went off with a knee injury during a challenge and fractured his wrist. He is now facing a lengthy spell out after receiving his scan results.
The team's manager, Chris Parsons, said he would be "very surprised" if Smalley could play again in the next year to 18 months.
Despite not winning a game in September, Newark dropped to 12th place in the United Counties League Premier Division North and went out of the FA Vase. The Blues are aiming for their first win in seven matches against Sheffield on Saturday at 3pm.
