Reds lose appeal over Luca Connell's red card

Barnsley have lost their appeal against the red card shown to midfielder Luca Connell, the club has confirmed.

Connell was sent off during the Reds' recent match at Oakwell, leaving the side to play much of the game with ten men. The club lodged an appeal in the hope of getting the decision overturned, but that challenge has now been rejected.

It means the midfielder will be unavailable for the matches covered by the suspension that follows a red card.

The Reds have not commented further on the outcome, and the club will now plan for the coming fixtures without him.
