Three playgrounds across the borough are set to receive a major investment after Barnsley secured £270,000 of Government funding.
The playgrounds benefiting are Millennium Green in Grimethorpe, California Play Area in Staincross, and Merrill Road Play Area in Thurnscoe.
The money comes through the Government's Playground Fund, with Barnsley one of 66 local authorities in England selected for funding.
The council says the sites were chosen after looking at factors including levels of local need and deprivation, the condition of existing equipment, accessibility and inclusion, potential community impact, and whether improvements can be delivered within the funding timescale.
The investment is intended to create safer and more inclusive free places for children of different ages and abilities to play.
Children, parents, carers and residents will also be invited to help shape the designs.
The £270,000 will be invested over the next two years, with all three schemes due to be completed by March 2028.
It sits alongside Barnsley's wider £2.1 million Love Where You Live parks improvement programme.
