Plans to create 40 new specialist primary-school places in Barnsley are due to be discussed by Cabinet. The proposal would transform The Mill, Worsbrough Bridge into specialist provision for children with complex special educational needs and disabilities.
The scheme would cost £7.37 million and would be funded through the Government's High Needs Provision Capital Allocation Grant. Earlier this year Barnsley accepted £9.4 million through the programme to improve SEND and alternative education provision.
If approved, children could begin attending The Mill from September 2028. The aim is to allow more Barnsley children to receive specialist support closer to home.
