Safeguarding is being put firmly in the spotlight across football as the Football Association's annual Play Safe campaign returns.
The nationwide initiative brings together professional clubs, grassroots teams, leagues, coaches, volunteers and parents to reinforce the importance of creating a safe environment for children and young people involved in the game.
This year's campaign is focused on the message Keep Up The Convo, encouraging adults to make safeguarding an ongoing conversation rather than something discussed only when a concern arises.
The campaign asks those involved in football to listen to children and young people, make sure they know who they can speak to if they are worried and understand their own responsibilities when it comes to safeguarding.
The message is relevant across football in Barnsley, from the professional game and academy system to the borough's grassroots clubs and junior teams.
Barnsley FC also has a safeguarding framework covering its academy, senior teams, staff, volunteers and matchday environments, with the club stating its commitment to protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Anyone with a safeguarding concern connected to football can also find advice and reporting information through the Football Association.
