Connor Hancock, a 30-year-old man from Barnsley, has lost over five-and-a-half stone after a health scare prompted him to completely change his lifestyle. He weighed 21 stone when he began his journey and has since shed over a quarter of his starting body weight.
He credits 'MAN v FAT' Football Barnsly' Football Club for helping him turn his life around, a football-based weight loss programme aimed at local men with a BMI of over 27.5 who aim to work towards a healthier weight. The club meets every Tuesday at 5ives Community Sports Club, where members combine football with support, accountability and advice on nutrition and weight loss. Connor's decision to make a change came after his fitness deteriorated, leaving him breathless and struggling with mental health. He also changed his approach to food, eating more regularly and smaller portions.
