A Barnsley powerlifter has returned home with a Commonwealth gold medal after representing England on the international stage.
Caroline Buckle competed at the 2026 Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in Winnipeg, Canada, where she won gold in the women’s Masters 1 84kg equipped bench press category.
Buckle recorded a successful lift of 112.5kg to finish top of her class and claim the Commonwealth title. The championships ran from 17 to 27 September and brought together powerlifters from across the Commonwealth for competition across a range of weight and age categories.
It is another major achievement for Buckle, who represented Great Britain at the World Bench Press Championships earlier this year and has competed at national and international level.
