Barnsley has secured a further £744,593 from Sport England to support work aimed at helping more residents become physically active.
The funding will support local projects through to 2028 and will involve schools, health services and community organisations.
Barnsley Council says there has already been an increase in the proportion of residents meeting recommended activity levels.
According to the council, the figure rose from 53 per cent in 2021/22 to 62.9 per cent in 2024/25, with the new investment intended to build on that progress.
