Barnsley Council is preparing to consider an additional £10 million investment in road repairs over the next four years. The money would sit alongside the council's existing £18.3 million highways capital programme.
The proposal is designed to expand frontline repair teams, tackle more potholes, use longer-lasting repairs where possible and reduce repeated temporary fixes.
The extra £10 million would come from resources already included within the council's financial plans rather than being entirely new outside funding.
The £10 million has not yet been approved. Cabinet is expected to consider the proposal on Wednesday 4 November.
