Plans are moving forward to convert part of the former Bridge Inn opposite Rotherham Central station into a convenience store.
A premises licence has been secured allowing alcohol to be sold for consumption off the premises 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with late-night refreshment also permitted. The prominent Sheffield Road pub has remained closed since its sale and the convenience-store proposal would occupy part of its ground floor.
The scheme is the latest attempt to bring a new use to one of the vacant buildings immediately around the railway station.
