Man Charged With Murder Following Athersley Death

South Yorkshire Police say 57-year-old Phillip Benson has been charged with murder following the death of 41-year-old Russell Baxter in Athersley.

Russell was found with multiple injuries at a property on Wingfield Road on 3 September and was pronounced dead at the scene. The murder charge replaces an earlier grievous bodily harm charge following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service.

The charge is an allegation and has not been proven.
