South Yorkshire Police has said six of its officers were assaulted while responding to three separate incidents over the weekend.
Reported injuries included scratches and abrasions, concussion and suspected ligament damage.
During one of the incidents, three ambulance workers were also assaulted.
The force said two people have been charged with assaulting a police constable, and investigations continue.
South Yorkshire Police said being assaulted should never be regarded as simply part of the job for emergency workers.
