A couple have been ordered to pay almost £2,000 following a Barnsley Council-led prosecution over dog faeces in their garden, after months of complaints from neighbours.

The case relates to a property in Thurnscoe, where the council took action over waste offences at houses in the area.

Barnsley Council has previously secured prosecutions of enviro-crime defendants in relation to waste offences at houses in Thurnscoe, including Georgia Brown, aged 27, of High Street, Thurnscoe, and Martin Brown.

The council says it continues to pursue prosecutions where residents fail to clear up waste following complaints.
