Wakefield Trinity are the new Super League champions after beating Warrington Wolves 23-10 at Old Trafford on Saturday 3 October.
It means Oakwell remains in the conversation as a possible venue for a World Club Challenge fixture. Before the final, Wakefield owner Matt Ellis said that if Trinity qualified, his two preferred venues would be Wakefield's own stadium or Oakwell.
Barnsley's ground would offer significantly more capacity and has a historic connection with Wakefield, who have previously played there.
No World Club Challenge venue has been confirmed and no date has been confirmed. Wakefield have now done their part by winning Super League.
